In the beginning my concept was to convey the beauty of the underwater world. But soon it developed into portraying the much wider realm of nature and universe. From 1995 we stayed three and half years in Quetta, Pakistan. Quetta is situated approximately 1700m above sea level and from Quetta across to Iran and Afghanistan there was just endless brown dry soil. Water is the key to everything. During long walks through the wildness one realized how thin the air was due to the high altitude. At night one is enveloped by the vastness of the heavens, Under these difficult living conditions and the prehistoric landscape I started to create my Origin series.
